Origin
The Orthodox Church in India traces its origin to 52 A.D., when St. Thomas, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ arrived and propagated the gospel, establishing churches in southern India. The Christian Association was formed in 1976 to preserve these ancient traditions by maintaining an unbroken continuity of spiritual life and ethical values.
Foundation of the Church
Under the leadership of Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorious and Rev. Fr. P.K. Thomas, the St. Thomas Orthodox Church Society was registered in 1978. The current church building in Lajpat Nagar, established in 1981, stands as both spiritual sanctuary and community landmark.
