20th February , 2020- The most awaited day of the year was the school picnic for the students of grade 4th to 7th. The students of St. Thomas School , Loni were taken for a class picnic to four destinations viz. Waste to Wonder Park, Vishwa Shanti Stupa, National Police Memorial and Nehru Planetarium on 20th February 2020. With their bags packed with games, food and a lot more, the children were very happy and excited to go for the picnic.
On reaching the park, the children enthusiastically explored the park home to replicas of some of the most visited monuments in the world. The children were also made aware about how these have been constructed from waste materials like scrap metal, discarded auto parts, that is procured from the landfills of the city.
The students were then provided with sumptuous meal to have their energy bar refilled.The next place visited was the green grass lawn of Vishwa Shanti Stupa. The visit to the park was a memorable one. The pristine white Shanti Stupa located in the middle of a beautiful lawn, with flowerbeds and trees around was no less than a spiritual escape. From there the students were taken to the National Police Memorial constructed in October 2018. The students were amazed to see the place which provides a panoramic view of the ceremonial parade ground and the Wall of Valour with names of the martyrs inscribed, making the students realize the value of the bravery and sacrifice of Police personnel.
From there , the students then headed to the last destination of Nehru Planetarium to enjoy the sky theatre show that gave them a great opportunity to learn more about planets, stars and other interesting astronomy facts. Everyone had a big smile on their faces indicating they had a great day of learning with fun.
